Date/Time
Date(s) - 29 September 2025
14h00 - 16h00
Join us in this interactive training session on the fundamentals of circular economy business models. This session will provide comprehensive frameworks for developing investment-ready projects. It will combine theoretical foundations with real-world applications, focusing specifically on Mediterranean contexts and sectoral considerations relevant to the ISE Mission thematic projects. Participants will learn to identify and assess circular business model opportunities, understand investor expectations, and develop strategies for securing sustainable financing.
Why is it important?
As the transition toward a circular economy accelerates across the Mediterranean region, project implementers face increasing pressure to demonstrate not only environmental impact but also economic viability and investor appeal. Traditional linear business models are giving way to innovative circular approaches that prioritize resource efficiency, waste reduction, and regenerative practices. However, many promising circular economy initiatives struggle to secure sustainable financing due to gaps in business model development and investment readiness. This training will address these critical challenges by providing participants with frameworks for selecting appropriate circular business models, understanding multi-dimensional sustainability metrics, and meeting investor expectations in an evolving funding landscape.
Key training components
- Strategic Business Model Development Participants will explore various circular economy business models—from product life extension and resource recovery to sharing platforms and circular inputs—learning to match model selection with their specific sectoral contexts and regional characteristics.
- Investment Landscape Navigation The training will provide an overview of funding opportunities ranging from EU Green Deal initiatives and impact investors to innovative financial instruments like green bonds and blended finance approaches. Participants will gain insights into what different types of investors expect and how to position projects effectively across various funding channels.
- Multi-Dimensional Impact Assessment Beyond traditional financial metrics, the session will introduce frameworks for measuring environmental impact, social value creation, and economic viability. This integrated approach helps participants develop value propositions that resonate with diverse stakeholder groups including investors, communities, and policy makers.
